A few of our ongoing service projects and groups are listed here.  For information on our Braille Center, Stephen Ministry, Music Ministry, Youth and Senior Groups, use the menu bar to the right.

In addition to the ongoing projects listed below, we do periodic drives and/or have volunteered at:

  • LCMS World Relief and Human Care disaster relief
  • Lutherans for Life and area Crisis Pregnancy Centers
  • Nelson Children's Ministries, a program of Lutheran Social Services, meeting the nees of children in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
  • POBLO: People of the Book Lutheran Outreach, a mission society dedicated to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with members of the Muslim community.
  • Voice of the Martyrs, whose ActionPak program delivers packages filled by our members to Christians around the world being persecuted for their faith
  •

Community Storehouse:  Messiah donates food and funds to the Christian Community Storehouse of Keller, which gives aid to needy families in Keller.  Our school children bring in canned goods as chapel offerings and many of our members remember the Storehouse when shopping for their own families.  Donations of non-perishable items can be left in the basket in the narthex.  We also maintain a small in-house food pantry, because some of our members live outside the Community Storehouse’s area of service.  For more information, contact Pastor Kitzmann:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Prison Fellowship Angel Tree:  Each Christmas at Messiah, we collect Christmas gifts for approximately 80 area children who have incarcerated parents.  Each child receives one article of clothing and one game or toy.  These gifts, purchased by members and school families of Messiah, are given to the children on behalf of that parent.  Many of these families are in need, and we have also provided food and clothing to them.  They are also given an age-app ropriate Bible story or devotion book.

Quilt & Sew Bee:  This group for quilters and sewers of all ages and experience, meets to share ideas, help each other with projects, and learn new skills.  They also work on a variety of service projects for the congregation and community.  Each spring, they help the confirmation students with their confirmation day banners.  They regularly produce crib and lap quilts for local hospitals, and one or two of their full-sized quilts have been donated to various charitable organizations to be auctioned off.  The Quilt and Sew Bee meets every Monday evening at 7:00 p.m.in the Fellowship Hall.  Bring along your sewing machine, basic supplies and any unfinished projects you may have.
